Your questions. Honest answers.
Everything you need to know before you commit — about who this is for, what training actually looks like, what you'll earn when you finish, and what comes next. If your question isn't here, reach out. We'd rather answer it now than have you wonder later.
Who is this For?
Do I need to be a Pilates client before I enrol?
Yes — and here's why it matters. Before you can teach the method, you need to know what it feels like from the inside. You don't need to be advanced. But you should understand what it means to move in the system you're about to teach. That foundation makes your learning faster, deeper, and more meaningful from day one.
Do I need teaching experience?
No. What you need is a genuine desire to help people and the commitment to meet the standard. We build the rest. Many of our trainees have never stood in front of a class before — and they certify ready to do exactly that.
Who is this certification built for?
Three types of people find their way here — and all three are welcome. The career changer — you've been a Pilates client long enough to know this method is different, and you're ready to cross the floor. The movement professional — you already teach or work with bodies and you want to add Pilates properly to what you offer. The dedicated practitioner — you've practised for years and you're ready to understand the why behind everything you've been doing.
Format and Training Structure
Where does the training take place?
All Unify Academy certifications are delivered in-person in Calgary, inside Unify Pilates Calgary at Seton. This is hands-on, face-to-face education — on real equipment, with real clients, in a studio that runs real classes every day of the week. There is no online version of this program. That is a deliberate choice.
How many hours does each certification require?
Matwork Certification: 95 total training hours. Reformer Certification: 250 total training hours. Full Bundle: 345 total training hours — both certifications within one structured pathway.
Is the apprenticeship included in my training hours?
Yes. Your observation and teaching practice hours are built into the certification — they are not an optional add-on. They happen inside Unify Pilates Calgary, alongside the instructors who teach there every week.
Is there a membership included?
Yes. Every trainee receives two months of unlimited class access at Unify Pilates Calgary as part of their certification. Your personal practice deepens your training. The body knowledge you develop as a client directly sharpens what you bring to every class you observe and every session you teach.
Certification & Exams
What are the exam requirements?
A 100-question written exam with a minimum passing score of 80%, and a practical teaching assessment — also 80% minimum to pass. Both must be completed to certify. This is not a formality. It is how we ensure that every Unify Academy graduate is genuinely ready to teach.
What if I don't pass my exam the first time?
You'll have the opportunity to retest. We would rather you retest and certify properly than rush through and struggle once you're in front of clients. Before your next attempt, we'll work with you to identify where to focus.
Pricing & Payment
How much does each certification cost?
Matwork: $1,250 standard / $1,000 early bird (save $250) Reformer: $3,300 standard / $2,640 early bird (save $660) Full Bundle: $4,500 standard / $3,600 early bird (save $900).
Are payment plans available?
Yes — at standard pricing only. Early bird pricing requires payment in full. Matwork: 3 × $420 ($1,260 total) Reformer: 3 × $1,100 ($3,300 total) Full Bundle: 3 × $1,500 ($4,500 total)
What's included in the price?
All training hours, your course manual or manuals, written and practical exam fees, your two-month unlimited membership to Unify Pilates Calgary, and full access to the Unify Academy education team throughout your certification. No hidden costs. No surprise fees at the end.
After You Certify
Will I be ready to teach straight away?
Yes. That is the entire design of this program. A Unify Academy graduate can walk into a studio, stand in front of a class, and deliver — on day one. You'll know your repertoire, understand the body in front of you, and have the teaching hours behind you to back your confidence up.
Can I specialise further after this certification?
Yes. The Matwork and Reformer certifications are your foundation. From here you can pursue additional apparatus training, specialty populations, and advanced methodology. Think of your certification as the foundation, not the ceiling.
